What can the opposing party do after receipt of the summons?

·    She/he may satisfy the claim\r\ndirectly to the claimant and the claimant should report this to court.

\r\n\r\n

·    She/he may deliver a written\r\nstatement of defense containing the nature of his/her defense and particulars\r\nof the grounds on which it is based, to the clerk of the court and send a copy\r\nto the claimant.

\r\n\r\n

·  She/he may institute a\r\ncounter-claim by delivering a written statement of defense and counter-claim as\r\nspecified in schedule 5 containing the nature of his/her defense and\r\nparticulars of the counter-claim to the clerk of the court.

\r\n\r\n

·     She/he must prepare to attend the\r\ncourt hearing whether or not a counter-claim has been filed.
